      The group on Facebook is Atlantic Coast Embroiders but this pattern is not available to those that are not members and may only be available if you buy the original sewing machine pattern and are at the fall Sew Along- you would need to contact the moderator Kim of the group to find out the details.

    Thanks for the shout out! That Halloween quilt is Happy Halloween by Amy Bradley Designs and it's actually missing the words block that made it the correct size. I like your embellishments of the pumpkins and bats to even it out. BTW, I'm not a Brother Ambassador. I don't work for Brother but I love their products. Thanks again. :) ~Becky Thompson, Power Tools With Thread

    Always take those machine operations lessons after the purchase from the dealer and go through the manual page by page at home. I cannot tell you how many times students will tell me they never knew something about their machine that was explained in the manual if they read it.

    I have an old Bernina serger that I use only for serging the raw edges of fabric before I prewash. I feel using the serger for that purpose saves wear and tear on my expensive sewing machine. I use a fairly long stitch length and just a three thread overlock to save thread. The following is not a criticism; it’s a serious question because I have little serger experience. Why did you use such a short stitch length? Is that the length recommended by the pattern?

    • @theidiotquilter
      @theidiotquilter 2 дні тому

      Simple reason I didn’t think about that until after the fact lol

    Hi, I met a very nice lady at the Dunnville Quilt show a few months back, the name of her store is Nesting Ground, Wainfleet Ontario. I thought she had some very nice fabric. Mummers, are where people dress up and go around to their neighbours houses for a kitchen party, they play music and get drunk. A lot of fun, the children would go around at Christmas to get candy, cake, etc. It was called Jannin" (I think that's the correct spelling) Hope that helps.

    • @heidim7732
      @heidim7732 5 днів тому

      Exactly so! Mummering is an old European tradition that continued much later in Newfoundland due to its isolation. Archivists and enthusiasts for the culture have created a resurgence in the tradition, which happens around Christmastime. People dress to disguise themselves and to amuse their hosts, wearing underwear on the outside and lots of padding on the inside and genderbending in all directions, cutting holes in old pillowcases to use as masks. They travel house to house and sing and carouse while the hosts try (not too hard) to guess who they might be. Nowadays there are workshops on creating an Ugly stick or a hobby horse as accessories, and on making a costume out of old clothing and whatnot. Then, at least in St. John's, there's a Mummer's Parade mostly for the kids.

    I think your quilt turned out beautiful! I agree it looks long and skinny but you addressed that well. The custom quilting really adds a lot.
